Luke Tracks 5 & 6 cut off early, which is annoying. Annoying enough that having paid for this I went and paid even more for the original Cacophony version on iTunes (which is fine). Otherwise the album is typical Sigh – which is anything but typical. Handclaps, organs, horns, opera, the infamous country-funk break. Genre-bending black metal as only Sigh can make.

Jordan Vauvert Et un nouveau cycle pour Sigh : Scenario IV: Dread Dreams est une valse diabolique et excentrique. Les genres (opéra, black metal, heavy metal, surf rock, etc.) tout comme les structures se bousculent. L'art du décalage en restant juste !
Et un nouveau cycle pour moi : à l'époque, je découvrais Sigh avec cet album sans rien connaître du black metal avant-gardiste et presque rien du black metal tout court, d'ailleurs. C'est le genre d'expérience qui redéfinit ce qu'on peut attendre de la musique. Favorite track: Black Curse.

Je vais sortir le vocabulaire qui fait peur aux puristes : Gallows Gallery est un album court (jerniquenne !), avec du chant clair, des polyphonies, des "ooh ooh ooh !" et "aah aah aah !" de circonstance (ventrequenne !), qui puise dans le hard rock ou le metal gothique (morquenne !) ; bref, le plus accessible pour les néophytes (foutreciel !). MAIS QUELLE ÉNERGIE PHÉNOMÉNALE ! De toutes façons, il faut être le dernier des trve du kvlt pour s'obstiner à rester puriste quand on écoute Sigh... Jordan Vauvert
